ELIGIBILITY
District Championships
To be eligible for District Championships awards, swimmers must qualify by participating in at least 3 District Meets over the season. These meets include: -
Swimmers not qualified under these criteria may still swim in all events as “By Invitation” entrants.
State and National Championships
To be eligible for State or National Championships, swimmers must achieve a qualifying standard time at a recognised meet as defined by Swimming Victoria and Australia Swimming. These standard times vary from year to year, so ask your coach or refer to links below.
COMPETITION ENTRY PROCEDURE
Put all competition entry dates in your diary.
Entry cards can be obtained from your coach or the Competitions Officer
Green entry cards are standard swimming Victoria forms and are used to enter most competitions in Victoria.
Yellow sprint entry cards are required for Victorian Sprint Championships ONLY. Entry times do not need to be included on these cards as times will be taken from a database of approved meets by Swimming Victoria officials.
How to Enter Swim Meet
Previously swum times must be accurate especially if Qualifying times are asked for. Qualifying times are strictly enforced by swimming Victorian and Australian Swimming. Fines can be imposed for entry times that have not been achieved at approved meets.
You must fill out where and when times were swum.
Remember to always keep a record of details of previous swims as a quick reference guide for completing the entry card.
If no time has been achieved simply put “N.T.” (‘No Time’) in the entry time space.
If a time has been converted from Long Course to Short Course or visa versa, put a “C” after the time on the card.
Make sure you enter the correct time for the event (e.g. don’t enter a 50m time for a 100m event).
If you need help filling out an entry card just ask your coach or a committee member who will be glad to assist.
