MLC offers a range of swim
squads catering for all ages, interests and commitment to the sport. Squad
swimming sessions are held at the MLC Physical Education Centre pool or
Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre.

State
Age Squad:
The State Age Squad is for swimmers who are currently qualified or working toward competing at the State Short or Long Course Championships.

National /Open/ Age Development Squad:
Members of the National Open / Age Development Squad are swimming at a National level or striving toward achieving this goal. The program includes swim sessions at MLC and Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre (HALC) and gym / dryland activities. Session commitment is at the coach's discretion (recommended 8 per week). As the timetable may vary session times can be confirmed by phoning the Head Swim Coach.

Senior
Fitness Squad:
This squad is for swimmers concentrating on school swimming, surf
lifesaving and open water swimming. The
squad is also appropriate for retired pool swimmers who would like to maintain
a high level of fitness. There is no
minimum requirement of sessions and additional sessions for MLC students are
available by arrangement with the Head Coach.
Please note – there is no scheduled training for the Senior Fitness
Squad during the school holidays or on long weekends (unless advised
otherwise). Please check “Learn to Swim”
term dates.

Swimmers in the National squad must attend a minimum of eight sessions per week. It is recommended that at least two of these sessions be gym/pool sessions. State squad swimmers must as a minimum attend four sessions per week and can not attend more than six sessions per week. It is recommended at least one of these sessions be gym/pool sessions. Gym/dry land sessions are highlighted above with an * and are conducted Tuesdays 4.00 to 5.00pm, Thursdays 5.15am to 6.00am and Fridays from 4.00pm to 5.00pm.

MLC Aquatic Membership
is compulsory for all swimmers training with the Emerging, State and National
squads.
MLC
Aquatic works in conjunction with the swim program to offer all swimmers
additional opportunties & guidance.
